Democrats Introduce 'MAR-A-LAGO' Act

Senate Democrats who want to know more about who the president is spending his time with have introduced a bill with an unsubtle name: The MAR-A-LAGO Act—"Make Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act"—calls for Trump to release visitor logs from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida as well as the White House and anywhere else he conducts official business, the Hill reports. The Democrats, whose bill is unlikely to survive the GOP-controlled Senate, accuse the White House of avoiding transparency and say they haven't been able to get an answer on whether Trump plans to follow Obama's policy of releasing visitor logs a few months after they were created.

Trump has spent five weekends at the resort he has nicknamed the "winter White House" since his inauguration, but he will be staying in Washington this weekend, reports the Sun Sentinel, which notes that Trump visits to south Florida can usually be predicted by the issuing of no-fly notices earlier in the week. Trump's decision to stay in DC will mean fewer security headaches for the organizers of this weekend's Palm Beach International Boat Show, though the Palm Beach County Republican Party was probably hoping for a Trump appearance at the Lincoln Day event it is holding at Mar-a-Lago.
