Sheryl Sandberg says Mark Zuckerberg is the reason "why I'm walking," crediting the Facebook founder with saving her life following the death of her husband in an interview with the Guardian. Sandberg, Facebook's chief operating officer, lost husband Dave Goldberg to a heart attack in 2015. "When I felt so overwhelmed and so isolated and just needed to cry...[Zuckerberg] would just sit there with me," she says. She says he was instrumental in helping her get her self-confidence back.
The interview is part of Sandberg's promotion for her new book, Option B, which she wrote with the help of a psychologist. The book looks at Sandberg's grief after her husband's death and how she experienced "post-traumatic growth." She says she's found a "deeper sense of meaning, gratitude, purpose" after Goldberg's death—though she'd give up all those "wonderful" things if it meant it would bring her husband back.
