Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has denounced the daughter of former President Clinton after she criticized a comment he made about rapes committed by soldiers, the AP reports. Chelsea Clinton had reacted to Duterte's rape comment last week, in which he told troops he would take responsibility for any crimes they commit while implementing martial law that he declared in the southern third of the country, even if they rape three women. In response to a tweet about his comment, Clinton herself tweeted: "Not funny. Ever." She went on to call him a "murderous thug" in a follow-up tweet, per Reuters.
In an expletive-laden speech at a navy event Wednesday, Duterte asked Clinton if she also criticized her father when he had an affair with Monica Lewinsky in the White House when he was president of the United States. "How did you feel? Did you slam your father?" he asked. Duterte added he was being sarcastic when he addressed the troops ("I do not laugh at my own jokes," he said, per Rappler) and that Clinton should "be careful because you live in a glass house."
