It's rare for a trip involving a canceled flight and an eight-hour wait for the next one to have a happy ending, yet here we are. Mashable reports a woman had an entire plane to herself on a flight from Rochester, New York, to Washington, DC, following a mistake by a gate agent. "I realized something was wrong when I was the only one in the waiting area 45 minutes before takeoff," shadybaby22 posted to reddit this week, along with a selfie taken on an empty plane.
After her original flight was canceled, she says and other passengers were initially booked onto a flight meant only for crew. It was later determined there was another option and an announcement was made that apparently everyone else heard—the woman says she had left the airport to wait out the delay at her parents' house and was never contacted. According to the Independent, the woman, which it identifies as "Beth," was accompanied only by a two-person cockpit crew and flight attendant. She says they "didn't seem thrilled" about having her on board. And yes, the flight attendant still gave the pre-flight safety presentation, albeit "at double the speed." (More air travel stories.)
