Before instigating a brawl over a missing cell phone at a pizza restaurant it's probably best to see if it's waiting for you in the lost and found. Someone likely learned that lesson this weekend in the Bay Area city of Newark, Calif., where at least 20 people got involved in a melee inside the John's Incredible Pizza Company at the NewPark Mall, Fox KTVU reports. Video of the incident shows patrons grabbing each other, throwing punches, and yelling, all while staff members try to quell the violence and children wander nearby. Things got so bad, in fact, that Newark police were forced to ask the nearby Fremont Police Department for backup, and one witness claims pepper spray was used.
But, all along it turns out the cell phone that prompted the brawl was sitting in the restaurant's lost and found, having been turned in hours before. While police were still at the scene of the fight, a restaurant manager found the phone in question, SF Gate reports. According to police, only minor injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
