NYPD Cop Killed in Crash of Maserati on Wedding Night

A 31-year-old New York City cop was killed in a car crash Sunday night just hours after getting married and only a mile from his wedding reception. A second officer also was killed, reports CBS New York. Police say new groom Michael Colangelo and 39-year-old John Martinez were killed about 11:30pm when their rented Maserati "left the roadway and struck a large tree" in Ulster County, per the New York Post. Martinez had been driving. A third man in the car remains hospitalized. Colangelo had been on the force for 10 years and had married his wife, Katherine, earlier in the day. (More NYPD stories.)
