In the wake of what some are calling the first digital act of war—when hackers using as many as a million computers attacked Estonia's  web-based infrastructure—cyber security experts from all over Europe and the US are huddling to study how to prevent future disasters, reports the New York Times.

The hackers, who are suspected to be Russian, used a vast network of bots located all over the world, masking their identities by using the Internet addresses of others or remotely controlled computers.“This may well turn out to be a watershed in terms of widespread awareness of the vulnerability of modern society,” said one Pentagon official.
