Bishop Who Enchanted Royal Wedding Has Cancer

Bishop Michael Curry, whose distinctly American sermon on the power of love stole the Prince Harry-Meghan Markle show, has prostate cancer, reports WJZ-TV. The Baltimore Episcopalian was diagnosed a few months ago at an annual physical, meaning he likely knew his prognosis at the time of the royal wedding. He'll undergo surgery Tuesday to remove his prostate gland, notes People, but he doesn't sound very worried. "I am happy to say that the prognosis looks very good and quite positive. ... I am very blessed with a wonderful family, a first-rate medical team, a great staff, dear colleagues and friends, a calling to which I have given my life, and above all a good, great and loving God in whose hands we always remain." He anticipates a four- to six-week recovery period. "So, do say a prayer. And know that I look forward to being back at my post in September." (More bishop stories.)
