A 16-year-old high school football player in Indiana who didn't want to become a father murdered his pregnant cheerleader girlfriend and left her body in a dumpster, police say. According to court documents seen by the Indianapolis Star, Aaron Trejo confessed to the murder of 17-year-old Breana Rouhselang, saying he stabbed her because he was angry that she had waited so long to tell him about the pregnancy that it was too late for an abortion. The documents state that Trejo told police: "I took action ... I took her life." Rouhselang, who was six months pregnant, was found dead Sunday morning near her home in Mishawaka, north of Indianapolis.
Police found her body in a dumpster behind a restaurant after her mother told police that her daughter had gone to speak to the father of her unborn child and not returned. An autopsy found that she had been stabbed and strangled with a scarf. Trejo, a Mishawaka High School student, has been charged with murder and feticide and will be tried as an adult. Court papers state that he told police "he had been planning and thinking about killing Breana and the baby for about a week and had not told anybody," CNN reports. "This is such a hard tragedy to accept!" family members wrote on a GoFundMe page. "This loving young lady was so full of life and didn't deserve this." (More Indiana stories.)
