Marie Kondo is sparking joy around the nation, but you may be able to do that on your own (without a major closet reorg) if you simply pick the right place to live. WalletHub looked at 180-plus US cities across more than 30 "happiness" metrics in three main categories: emotional and physical well-being, which encompassed everything from residents' overall life-satisfaction and life expectancy to their depression rates; community and environment, which looked at such factors as hate-crime incidents, divorce rates, and average leisure time; and income and employment. Here, the top 10 cities where happiness reigns:
- Plano, Texas
- Irvine, Calif.
- Madison, Wis.
- Fremont, Calif. (No. 1 in the "Community and Environment" category)
- Huntington Beach, Calif.
