Rihanna is entering a new field with "no artistic limits." In a few weeks, the singer will unveil the first products of her new Fenty label. That will make her the first woman to create an original brand for LVMH, the BBC reports, and the first woman of color to lead a house for the group. Fenty, which is Rihanna's last name, will produce clothing, shoes, and accessories alongside such other luxury LVMH brands as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy. It's the group's first new label since 1987. In a statement, Rihanna called it a "unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits."
Rihanna already has a cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, and a lingerie line, Savage X Fenty. Her new label will be based in Paris, and "is centered on Rihanna, developed by her, and takes shape with her vision," LVMH said, per the New York Times. Fenty is the first brand of the Instagram age from one of the big luxury groups, per the New York Times, adding that the move reflects Rihanna's influence. She has 70 million followers on Instagram.
