Tom Brady is facing the wrath, or at least the side-eye, of the internet after posting an Instagram video of himself and his 6-year-old daughter cliff jumping in Costa Rica. "If Vivi is going to be an Olympic champion one day, it probably won’t be in synchronized diving. Daddy always gives her a 10 though!" wrote the New England Patriots quarterback in the caption. The video shows Vivian saying she's ready, then apparently hesitating before jumping into the water below, but being pulled over the side anyway thanks to the fact that she was holding her dad's hand. NBC News and the New York Post round up concerned reactions from some big names in the comments of the post:
- "That shoulder ok?" posted professional surfer Kelly Slater along with a nervous-looking emoji.
- "She is a 10 but old dad gets a [thumbs down]," posted former NFL quarterback Brett Favre along with a thumbs-down emoji.
- "You KNOW I have complete faith in you as a man, friend, player and father—but this just gave me anxiety. Geeezus," posted Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson.
Still, others in the comments were defending Brady, and
Us Weekly notes that Stephen Curry and Diddy weighed in simply with laughing emojis. And still others were possibly more concerned with Brady's own well-being:
Fox Business ran an article headlined, "Tom Brady's cliff jump: How off-field injury risks affect NFL contracts." (More
