A mother took her teenage son out for a driving lesson in Milwaukee and ended up dead, the victim of an apparent road rage shooting. Police say it was the other driver who hit the car being driven by Tracey Smith's 17-year-old son just after 5pm on Friday. Her family tells TMJ4 she got out to take stock of the damage. The details on what happened next, per police, remain light: A person in the other car allegedly shot Smith and took off; Smith's father tells WISN his daughter was talking to the driver when she was shot.
Onlookers then helped her son drive her to the hospital. "She's just out teaching him how to drive and she's gone," a relative tells CBS58 of Smith, who had worked for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for more than two decades. A 35-year-old male was arrested on Monday; it's not clear if he has been charged yet. (More road rage stories.)
