A new presidential feud opened up overnight, with President Trump going after celebrity couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. The pair seemed more than happy to return fire. It revolves around a town hall on the criminal justice system that aired on MSNBC on Sunday night, along with an accompanying NBC special on the issue in which Legend appeared. Trump felt he and Republicans were not given due credit for a bipartisan prison reform measure that passed last year. "Guys like boring musician @johnlegend and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is - but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed," Trump wrote as part of a four-tweet complaint. He also blasted NBC's Lester Holt, though the Washington Post notes that Holt's special included footage of Trump signing the bill into law.
"Imagine being president of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC hoping somebody--ANYBODY--will praise you," responded Legend. "Melania, please praise this man. He needs you." It's Teigen's response, however, that is drawing most of the attention. Embracing the "filthy-mouthed" part of Trump's criticism, she christened him with an expletive-laced nickname in a tweet. The "absolute best part of his tweet is I literally didn't speak in the special, nor was I mentioned," she wrote. "I'm cackling at the pointless addition of me because he cannot not be a b----." Teigen has long been a vocal critic of Trump, which makes this new escalation seem almost inevitable, per Mashable. (More President Trump stories.)
