Sia Reveals She Has 'Demoralizing' Disease

Sia Furler, the reclusive singer known for performing without even her face showing, has just given fans an unusually forthcoming look into some personal news, via what E! News calls a "heartfelt message" online. In a tweet Friday afternoon, the 43-year-old announced she's been living in "chronic pain" due to her suffering from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a group of genetic disorders that weakens the body's connective tissues. Patients with this disease often have fragile, elastic skin and joints that are excessively flexible.

It appears Sia's message was meant to be a PSA of sorts to others in the same boat, or with other debilitating illnesses. "I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going," she wrote in her post. "Life is f---ing hard. Pain is demoralizing, and you're not alone." E! News notes she offered a similarly encouraging message to fans last year around this time on another issue. "Eight years sober today," she tweeted in September 2018. "I love you, keep going. You can do it."
