It's been a busy year for Michelle Williams. First she split from husband Phil Elverum in the spring, after a surprise marriage the summer before. Then she started earning accolades for her star turn in Fosse/Verdon, the FX miniseries in which she plays singer and actress Gwen Verdon. Now she's engaged to the director of that series, Thomas Kail, and they're expecting a child together, a source tells People. The Tony- and Emmy-winning Kail is also known for directing the Broadway hit Hamilton and 2016's Grease: Live!, and is good friends with Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose musical In the Heights Kail also directed.
While a spokesperson for the 39-year-old actress is staying mum, Williams was recently seen in London with Kail, 42, and at a maternity store there picking up baby apparel. The source tells People it was Matilda Ledger, Williams' 14-year-old daughter with the late actor Heath Ledger, who played matchmaker for her mom and Kail. (More Michelle Williams stories.)
