Liz Cheney Won't Be Running for Senate

Liz Cheney is staying put in the House. The Wyoming congresswoman said Thursday she won't run for the Senate seat being vacated this year by fellow Republican Mike Enzi, reports Politico. Instead, Cheney will seek reelection to the House, where she serves as chair of the House Republican Conference. That happens to be the party's third-highest position there, and the Casper Star-Tribune reports that Cheney has a decent chance of rising even higher and becoming House speaker someday. Of course, that would require Republicans to reclaim their House majority, and in her statement Thursday, Cheney promised to fight for just that. "I believe I can have the biggest impact for the people of Wyoming by remaining in leadership in the House of Representatives and working [to] take our Republican majority back," she said.
