It's a big year for Mariah Carey: She was just named as one of 2020's inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, People reports. "I can't believe it... The SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME!!!!" she wrote on Instagram. "This is truly one of the greatest honors of my career. I'm so proud and humbled to be in the company of such legendary songwriters—both previously inducted as well as the incredible class of 2020!" Carey, the best-selling female artist ever, has more No. 1 hits than any other solo artist, and she has written or co-written 18 of the 19 of them, CBS reports. She's also the first artist to have a No. 1 in four separate decades. Here are the others who will be inducted at a June 11 ceremony in New York City, as announced on CBS This Morning Thursday:
- The Isley Brothers
- Eurythmics
- Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band
- Rick Nowels (who has written hits for artists including Belinda Carlisle, Dido, Lana Del Rey, and others)
- The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, who have written hits for artists including Nelly, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and others)
- William "Mickey" Stevenson (who wrote or co-wrote such iconic hits as "Dancing In the Street," "It Takes Two," "Devil With a Blue Dress On," and others)
(Carey's latest No. 1 hit
was released in 1994.)
