What a mess in Iowa. The state's Democratic Party issued an update Tuesday morning on the still-delayed caucus results, though it wasn't much of an update. The party pledged to release the results "as soon as possible today," reports Politico. Officials also blamed a "coding issue" in the reporting app but emphasized that while the results will be late, they will be accurate. As that confusion was being sorted, President Trump mocked Democrats in a series of tweets:
- Blame game: "It is not the fault of Iowa, it is the Do Nothing Democrats fault," he wrote. And in a reference to critics calling for an end to Iowa's first-in-the-nation voting status, he added: "As long as I am President, Iowa will stay where it is. Important tradition!"
- Russia zing: "When will the Democrats start blaming RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, instead of their own incompetence for the voting disaster that just happened in the Great State of Iowa?" Trump asked.
- A boast: "The Democrat Party in Iowa really messed up, but the Republican Party did not," he wrote, referencing his own victory Monday night. "I had the largest re-election vote in the history of that great state, by far, beating President Obama's previous record by a lot. Also, 97% Plus of the vote! Thank you Iowa!"
