A 17-year-old male suspect is being sought in connection with the fatal shooting of two teenagers, police in North Carolina say. The bodies of Lyric Woods, 14, and Devin Clark, 18, were found by ATV drivers Sunday. They had been reported missing by their families, who said they hadn't seen them since late Friday. "Through the hard work of my investigators, along with the assistance of personnel from many other law enforcement agencies, we have identified a suspect in this case," Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said, per ABC 11. "We will now work with local, state, and federal authorities to apprehend and present the suspect to the court system."
A juvenile petition for two counts of first-degree murder was filed Tuesday. "We are not resting until he is in our custody in Orange County," the sheriff said. "Until then, our heads are down, and we are working toward that end." Family members say Clark and Woods, who attended different high schools but lived in the same close-knit community, were friends. They say there was a third person in a vehicle with the teens before they were killed, though it's not clear whether that person is the teenage boy police are seeking, WRAL reports.
