Eliud Kipchoge not only won the men's division in Sunday's Berlin Marathon, he beat the world record he himself set on the same course in 2018. The 37-year-old Kenyan runner, called the best marathon runner in the world, finished in 2:01:09, 30 seconds faster than his previous world record, NPR reports. The second-place winner was nearly five minutes behind the Olympic gold medalist, per the New York Times. Ethiopia's Tigist Assefa won the women's race in a course record of 2:15:37; the combined time of the winning runners made it the fastest Berlin Marathon ever. (More Eliud Kipchoge stories.)
