Sara Lee, a professional wrestler who nabbed a WWE contract as season 6 winner of the Tough Enough reality TV competition, has died. Lee's mother confirmed the 30-year-old mother of three, who was married to fellow wrester Westin Blake, died unexpectedly. "We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete," Terri Lee wrote Thursday on Facebook. She did not reveal a cause of death. Earlier this week, Lee wrote on Instagram that she'd been suffering from a sinus infection that "kicked my butt" but finally felt "healthy enough to go to the gym 2 days in a row." Lee was a track star and powerlifter in high school before earning a one-year $250,000 contract with the WWE in 2015. She was released the following year.
"WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sara Lee," who "served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world," the company said in a tweet, offering condolences to family and friends. AEW wrestling star Saraya, who previously wrestled in the WWE under the name Paige, said it was a pleasure to know and work with Lee, whose death is "heartbreakingly tragic," per the BBC. WWE wrestler Bull James has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for Lee's husband, whose real name is Cory James Weston, and their kids, so they don't have to worry about "paying for a funeral and everything else that comes along with it," per People. More than $70,000 has been raised as of this writing. (More WWE stories.)
