In a Monday email to company employees, Tyson apologized and said he was "embarrassed" by Sunday's incident in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for which he is facing charges of public intoxication and criminal trespass. "I made a serious mistake and this has caused me to reflect deeply on the impact my actions can have on others,” the 32-year-old wrote, per the AP. The chief financial officer of one of America's largest food companies was arrested early Sunday after allegedly getting drunk and falling asleep in the wrong house. An arrest report states that a woman in Fayetteville, Arkansas, arrived home around 2am Sunday and found John R. Tyson, 32, asleep in her bed, KNWA reports. She told emergency service dispatchers that she might have left her front door unlocked. According to the arrest report, police found Tyson asleep with his clothes in front of the bed. Police said they struggled to wake him up. They said he was "slugglish and uncoordinated" and smelled of alcohol.

Police identified Tyson from his driver's license. He was "arrested on charges of criminal trespassing and public intoxication." He was booked into the Washington County jail and released Sunday evening, reports CNBC, and has a Dec. 1 court date. "We’re aware of the incident and as this is a personal matter, we have no additional comment," the company said in a statement Monday. Tyson, who joined the company in 2019 after working as an investment banker, was promoted to CFO and executive vice president on Sept. 27, the AP reports. He is the son of Tyson Foods Chairman John H. Tyson and the great-grandson of company founder John W. Tyson. (More Tyson Foods stories.)
