Call-girl Ashley Dupre has done the state of New York a huge favor, Michael Daly writes in the New York Daily News. If the sex scandal hadn't brought down "self-righteous, mean-spirited and divisive rich kid" Eliot Spitzer, New York wouldn't have the "warm-hearted and manifestly decent" governor it has today in David Paterson, Daly writes.
Paterson has called for the whole state to pull together to deal with the current economic crisis, Daly notes, showing a spirit of cooperation far removed from Spitzer's steamroller approach and a measure of modesty that makes him seem like a genuinely good man. "Now, Ashley, if you are not too busy," Daly writes, "I have a few other self-righteous politicians for you." (More Eliot Spitzer stories.)
