Sexual assault lawsuits were filed against two big names in Hollywood this week. Details:

  • Cuba Gooding Jr.: The actor pleaded guilty, but did not spend any time behind bars, in a criminal case related to sexual assaults in 2018 and 2019. Two of the three women who accused him in that case are now suing; one accuses him of forced kissing and the other of groping her breast without consent, the Guardian reports. "Our clients were deprived of the justice they sought in the criminal case," Gloria Allred, an attorney for the plaintiffs, says in a statement. "They are now seeking justice and accountability in their civil cases." Gooding previously settled a civil lawsuit from a woman who accused him of raping her in 2013.

  • Jamie Foxx: The actor was sued Monday over an incident alleged to have happened at Catch NYC, a New York City restaurant, in 2015, CNN reports. The anonymous plaintiff alleges Foxx appeared "intoxicated" and "intentionally and without consent used force to offensively touch Plaintiff's person," including groping her genitals and breasts. She says she has suffered "physical and emotional injuries, anxiety, distress, embarrassment, and economic harm" as a result. Her suit also names the restaurant's parent company and accuses it of negligent hiring, training, and supervision.

The lawsuits were filed under New York's Adult Survivors Act, which granted adult survivors of sexual abuse one year to sue their abusers in the state regardless of whether the statute of limitations had already expired. That year is up on Friday. (Axl Rose was sued under the same act this week,)
