Body of 4th Worker Recovered After Key Bridge Collapse

The body of a fourth construction worker killed in the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore was recovered Sunday. Six workers who were repairing potholes on the bridge were killed when a cargo ship crashed into it in the early morning hours of March 26, almost immediately causing its near-complete collapse, and the bodies of Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, 35, Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, 26, and Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval, 38, had previously been recovered. Two more victims remain unaccounted for, and the identity of the victim most recently recovered has not been made public at the request of his family, CNN reports.

Salvage teams located what they believed to be one of the missing construction vehicles, and the Maryland State Police, the FBI, and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police ultimately recovered the worker's body from inside that vehicle, ABC News reports. "As we mourn the lives lost and continue the recovery operation, we recognize each missing individual is someone's beloved friend or family member," the superintendent of the Maryland Department of State Police says in a statement. The news comes as federal authorities launched a criminal probe into the incident; the city of Baltimore and lawyers for some of the victims' families are also seeking accountability.
