The first of seven battleground states has been called—and it goes to Donald Trump. The AP called North Carolina for the former president about four hours after the polls closed there. The six other swing states remain too close to call, as does the 2024 winner. Polls are now closed in most of the nation, and neither Trump nor Kamala Harris have registered an upset in the non-battleground states already called, per the New York Times.
- Electoral College count: Trump 230, Harris 210. The winner needs 270.
- States for Harris: The AP has called California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington state, the 1st Congressional District of Maine, and the District of Columbia for Harris.
- States for Trump: The AP has called Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska (statewide, along with the 3rd Congressional District), North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming for Trump.
A look at the swing states (with poll closing times in Eastern Standard Time):

- Pennsylvania, 8pm. Not called.
- Michigan, 9pm. Not called.
