Hackers broke into the Yahoo! email account that Sarah Palin used for official business as Alaska's governor and posted some content on the Internet. The group Anonymous claimed credit but did not explain its motives. The FBI and Secret Service are investigating. Palin has taken criticism for using private email to conduct government business, which some critics charge is a way to circumvent public record laws.
"This is a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law," the McCain camp said. Nothing extremely sensitive appears to have been exposed. One email was from Palin to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell discussing a talk show host who had been critical of Parnell. The hackers also posted personal photos and the subject lines of various emails on WikiLeaks.org.
