In his pursuit of Hank Aaron's towering home-run record, Barry Bonds has recently gone cold; in the six games sandwiching the All-Star break, he has gone hitless in 23 at-bats, including three walks. Manager Bruce Bochy is resting him to start San Francisco's series at Chicago. Bonds has been at 751 homers since July 3.

In a rare emotional outburst, the outfielder overturned a cart of equipment and directed an expletive at himself at the conclusion of the Giants' previous game, their third straight loss against the Dodgers. "It's an embarrassment for me to be wearing this [expletive] uniform," he asserted. (More Barry Bonds stories.)
