A full-scale rehearsal for Barack Obama's inauguration unfolded in Washington before dawn yesterday, featuring a stand-in first family. A 26-year-old Army staff sergeant took an ersatz oath of office while a Navy yeoman playing Michelle Obama looked on, reports the Washington Post. Two children played Malia and Sasha. Each character wore a large sign labeling the part they were playing, in case anyone was confused.
"I'm just so proud and so glad to be a part of this," said the Barack Obama pretender after he stepped down from the podium. "Standing there, looking over the city, it was beautiful. It felt wonderful to be a part of this country and know that it's a change in history."
