What's a bloke to do? After the reassuring news that a glass of red wine a day helps fend off heart disease, now comes a British study that one large glass—or a pint of beer—increases the risk of colon cancer by 10%. ""The research shows quite clearly that the more alcohol you drink the greater your risk of bowel cancer," one health expert told the Daily Mail.

Two large wine glasses or two pints of beer increases the risk by 25%. Researchers defined a large glass of wine as a half an ounce. The biggest risk for life threatening diseases is the combination of cigarettes and alcohol, experts warned. (More cancer stories.)
