Family members have gathered at a New York hospital to say farewell to Natasha Richardson, reports the New York Daily News. The actress, on life support and believed to be brain dead after suffering a fall on a Canadian ski slope Monday, has been joined by husband Liam Neeson, the couple's sons aged 12 and 13, and mother Vanessa Redgrave.
The family now faces the heartbreaking task of deciding when to take Richardson off life support. News of the tragedy shocked the theater world. Richardson is "theater royalty," her costume designer said. "Natasha is strong, but when you hear about something so horrible you think about those vulnerable characters" she played, he added. Medical observers speculated Richardson suffered a blood clot in the brain during a fall on a beginner slope which initially appeared to be a minor accident.
