Shanna Moakler has resigned as executive director of the Miss California USA pageant, she tells Us magazine a day after Carrie Prejean was allowed to keep her crown and Donald Trump promised all was well in pageant-land. “I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it,” Moakler said.
Moakler, a former beauty queen herself, opposed Prejean’s views on gay rights and recently appeared in an ad slamming California’s gay marriage ban. “I want to be a role model for young woman with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children,” she said.
