A Miami nun has been arrested after getting in the middle of a confrontation between a police officer and a homeless man wielding an ice pick, WPLG 10 reports. The man had been causing a disturbance outside the shelter where Sister Margaret Anthony works, and when police tried to defuse the situation, she got involved. “The nun refused to stay back,” said a police spokesman.

“At one point, she gets right in front of, or in the middle of, the police officer and this knife-, ice-pick-wielding man,” he continued. “She was loud. She was belligerent. She was defiant.” The officer says Anthony “walked toward me flaring her arms.” Anthony’s friends say she knew the man and was trying to calm him down so he woudn't go to jail. She faces misdemeanor charges of obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. (More nuns stories.)
