The New York Post awarded Charles Krauthammer a prize yesterday, and the veteran neocon columnist used his acceptance speech to praise "the genius of Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes" for the miracle of Fox News. The network "created an alternate reality," he said, offering an alternative to "news delivered beneath layer after layer of often undisguised liberalism."
For Krauthammer, Fox News is so resented because "it altered the intellectual and ideological landscape of America," legitimizing viewpoints that the mainstream media thought discredited. The columnist wasn't just praising the Post's News Corp. stablemate. As he pointed out, he himself appears on the network's 6 o'clock newscast—which he didn't hesitate to call "the single best news program on American television." (More Charles Krauthammer stories.)
