Celebrity / Brad Pitt Pitt Won't Marry Until Gays Can Stands by his decision despite 'flak' from religious right By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Aug 6, 2009 8:16 AM CDT Copied Brad Pitt arrives on the red carpet for the film 'Inglourious Basterds', during the 62nd International film festival in Cannes, southern France, Wednesday, May 20, 2009. (AP Photo/Matt Sayles) Brad Pitt is standing firm in his decision not to marry “soul mate” Angelina Jolie until “it’s legal for everyone else,” he tells Parade. “I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I've had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment.” Even though he’s gotten “flak” for his decision—like the TV reverend who said “Angie and I were setting a bad example because we were living out of wedlock”—the couple seems as happy as ever. “Do you know how you tell real love? It's when someone else's interest trumps your own,” Pitt says. “The fear of losing” Angelina and their children “is what keeps me up at night.” (More Brad Pitt stories.) Report an error
