The Philadelphia Phillies rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning then held on to beat the host Colorado Rockies, 5-4, tonight and advance to the National League Championship Series opposite the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ryan Howard drove in the tying runs with a double off Rockies closer Huston Street before Jayson Werth delivered the winner with a single.

The Phillies, who took three of four games against Colorado, will travel to Los Angeles for their best-of-seven series, which begins Thursday. The winner will head to the World Series to play the winner of the New York Yankees-Los Angeles Angels tilt in the American League. An LA-LA Series presents obvious story lines; a Yankees-Dodgers meeting would pit New York against its former manager, Joe Torre.
