With one eye on some of the $45 billion recreational fishing market and the other on the hundreds of millions of users Facebook has attract, GoFISHn.com is the latest site angling for anglers. “Nobody has done a good job in enthusiast sites,” founder Ned Desmond, looking to buck the trend, tells TechCrunch. Not only can you share your latest fish story, but you can cast a wider net on Facebook and Twitter.

GoFISHn also allows fishing-related businesses to get their hooks into the social-networking waters, Erick Schonfeld notes, and “pros can get in front of potential customers by providing the best answers to the fishing questions they are expert in.” And Desmond’s got his eye on other niche markets, with these criteria: “There has to be big enthusiasm, lots of small businesses, and a narrative that attaches to it in a daily, ongoing way.”
