Google’s secretive, much-hyped Nexus One is going to have some real horsepower under its hood. The fine hackers over at TheseAreTheDroids have pored over a leaked ROM of the new phone’s software to figure out what hardware will be in it, and the news is all good. The Nexus will be packed with the usual iPhone-esque bells and whistles—accelerometers, proximity and ambient light sensors, etc.—all strapped to a lightning fast 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

That’ll make it twice as fast as Motorola’s Droid, “which will certainly have the executives at Motorola hopping mad,” notes Fast Company. It’ll also have faster wi-fi than nearly every other phone on the market—including the iPhone—and FM capabilities the iPhone lacks. Unfortunately, it’s also got one unwanted feature: legal trouble. Philip K. Dick’s estate has contacted their lawyers, because they think the name “Nexus” is too closely associated with Blade Runner. (More Google phone stories.)
