Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman'' Jones may be forced to sit out the 2007 season as the first casualty of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's off-field conduct crackdown. More than 50 NFL players have been arrested since January 2006, prompting Goodell to push tougher punishments, even for those like Jones who have not yet been formally charged.

Jones was picked up in a Las Vegas strip-club brawl last month, after being arrested or questioned by police 10 times last year, and violating his contract by not reporting two Georgia arrests to the Titans. Owners have an unlikely ally in pushing for action: the Players' Association is eager to combat the "knucklehead factor"  of disrespectful players. (More Tennessee Titans stories.)
