A federal judge will hear a lawsuit today alleging a Planned Parenthood clinic lost its permit on the eve of its opening due to pressure from anti-abortion groups. The clinic has more than a dozen appointments set tomorrow.
The town says Planned Parenthood originally applied under a subsidiary’s name, but the clinic was approved a second time last month—after a newspaper reported on the relationship. Public outcry ensued, and officials said a full review was needed before approval; most recently, they’ve told the nonprofit they have “no intention of allowing you to open for business.” (More Illinois stories.)
