Nike will roll out a new line of golf clubs this month, without any help from a certain promiscuous golfer. Tiger Woods is still under contract with Nike, but he’s conspicuously absent from the promo materials for the new Victory Red STR8-FIT Tour fairway woods, which instead boast that they were tested by lesser-known pro Lucas Glover and designed with input from 12 other golf stars.

Some retailers believe that Nike’s brand is now strong enough to sell the clubs without Woods. But his absence is pretty notable, given that Nike wasn’t really a player in the golf world until it hitched itself to his star; the Victory Red name itself derives from Tiger’s preference for red shirts. Maybe next they should try Victory Blonde? (More Tiger Woods stories.)
