Politics / Sarah Palin Advice for Sarah Palin 2012 A former Bush aide gives Sarah Barracuda some strategy tips By Kevin Spak, Newser Staff Posted Feb 10, 2010 10:43 AM CST Copied Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin addresses attendees at the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, Tenn., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. (AP Photo/Ed Reinke) Party wisemen may not take her seriously, but Sarah Palin’s got a genuine shot at being the 2012 Republican nominee. And ex-Bush aide Matt Latimer, writing for the Daily Beast, has some advice on how she can win: Explain why she quit: Right now it looks like she fled when the going got tough so she could focus on her book deal and television career. Not good. Ignore DC strategists: They’ll try to turn her into one of those “PowerPoint candidates armed with focus-grouped talking points. Just be yourself and let the voters decide if that’s good enough.” Don’t ignore policy experts: Surround yourself with smarter people; it’ll make you a better leader. Send Tina Fey a thank you card: Every time comedians make fun of Palin, they’re just lowering expectations, making her look better. Run against the GOP establishment: “Contrary to the delusional hopes of party strategists,” voters still don’t like Republicans. They “would love to throw out both parties if they could.” (More Sarah Palin stories.) Report an error
