The Houston Texans released their two best-known players today, quarterback David Carr and running back Domanick Williams (formerly Davis), after years of disappointing performances.
Carr was waived a day after the Texans acquired former Atlanta Falcons backup Matt Schaub. Davis was released to make room for Ron Dayne and free-agent acquisition Ahman Green. 1999 Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne signed with the Texans last season when Williams, then named Domanick Davis, was placed on injured reserve. Green, who had spent six seasons with the Green Bay Packers, signed March 4 as a free agent. (More Ron Dayne stories.)
