Covert US and Afghan troops killed two pregnant women and a teen girl in a botched raid last month, then inflicted "cruel and inhuman" treatment on the innocent survivors, according to a scathing UN report. In all, 5 members of a single family were killed as relatives gathered to celebrate the naming of a newborn baby. The survivors were then “assaulted by US and Afghan forces, restrained and forced to stand barefeet for several hours outside in the cold," said the yet-to-be-published report which was obtained by the Times of London

"Further allegations were also raised that US and Afghan forces refused to provide adequate and timely medical support to two people who sustained bullet injuries, resulting in their deaths." One man attending the celebration said he was kicked and dragged across the family's compound by his hair in the raid run by "American special forces." Locals have accused NATO of trying to cover up the true events of the tragedy. There was no immediate response to the report from Afghan or US officials.
