Playing in his first Presidents Cup, Woody Austin waded into a lake to try to play the ball he had hit there, and ended up following it into the water. The extremely competitive golfer, now dubbed "Jacques Cousteau" by US team captain Jack Nicklaus, crashed face-first into the lake after a fruitless swing at the submerged ball, Sportsline reports.
After the soaking, Austin rallied for birdies on the final three holes to hold on to an important halved point. The man who once famously hit himself about the head with his putter after missing a shot merely laughed this time after splashing out of the lake. As Nicklaus pointed out, Austin now has "a great endorsement opportunity for scuba gear." (More Presidents Cup stories.)
