Ricky Williams submitted a request yesterday that the NFL lift his indefinite suspension for violating league drug policy, reports the AP. Williams, still under contract with the Miami Dolphins, was booted from the NFL in April 2006 when he tested positive for marijuana. He failed another test a year later. It could take 60 days for the NFL to make its decision.
Williams, who took the 2002 rushing title with 3225 yards, played in the Canadian Football League in 2006, and is a "physical specimen," according to his agent. It is not clear whether the Dolphins will have a place for the running-back-turned-yoga-teacher. Miami coach Cam Cameron declined to comment until the results of WIlliams' appeal are in.
