LPGA golfer Erica Blasberg's career was on the skids: She'd placed toward the bottom in the only tournament she'd played this year, and never really realized her potential, People reports in a look behind the scenes of the 25-year-old's death. "At first glance it looks like she might have taken her own life, but at second glance, something is very, very strange about it," says dad Mel Blasberg.

The Clark County Coroner is working to determine what killed Blasberg, but friends contend that suicide is not the culprit—noting that her bags were found in her apartment packed for the next tournament. "I don't know of any problems that she had, and I think she would have told me," a friend says. "She was smart, pretty and can play golf. Guys went nuts for her. There's this cute girl out there crushing the ball." (More Erica Blasberg stories.)
