All-star pitcher Ugueth Urbina, who's been in a Venezuelan jail for a year and a half awaiting trial for attempted murder,  has been convicted and sentenced to 14 years. He was also found guilty of illegal deprivation of liberty and unlawfully taking justice into his own hands in a violent incident involving five workers on his ranch in Venezuela.

The 33-year-old free agent, who last pitched for the Phillies, was accused of joining a group of men in attacking  workers with machetes and pouring gasoline on them at the ranch located about 25 miles south of Caracas. Urbina denies involvement in the attack, saying he was sleeping at the time.
