The Triple Crown will go unclaimed for another year. Lookin at Lucky won the Preakness today, denying Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver (who didn't finish in the money) a shot at the honor. Jockey Martin Garcia guided Lookin at Lucky down the stretch to a close victory over First Dude and Jackson Bend, reports AP.
Wait, First Dude? Yep, the second-place finisher is named after Todd Palin, notes the Alaska Dispatch. The main reason is that he's the son of a mare named Run Sarah Run. The Double Diamond Farm of Florida bought the mare when she became available for $40,000. "We just happen to be Republicans, and we thought it would be cool," said VP Roger Brand.
